Patna, Oct. 21: A joint team of police and special task force arrested one Shravan Kumar alias Bantu Singh, a close associate of jailed Mokama MLA Anant Singh, today.

The middle-aged man's name figures in many cases, including kidnapping and land grab among others. He was nabbed from Patel Nagar locality .

Anant Singh has been in jail since June 24, in connection with an Arms Act case and also a kidnapping of a businessman - Raju Singh. Shravan's name figures in the same kidnapping case.

"He has been arrested in connection with another case related to misappropriation of property, which had been lodged against him at SK Puri police station in 2013. However, the man's name also figures as one of the accused in the kidnapping of businessman Raju Singh. The man will be taken on remand by the police in this connection," Patna senior superintendent of police Vikas Vaibhav told The Telegraph.

With Anant contesting the Assembly polls as an independent candidate from Mokama, sources said Shravan had been made the in-charge for poll preparations.

Police nabbed one Kartikay Ranjan, another close associate of Anant Singh, from Dak Bungalow area, a day after the MLA was arrested from his residence. Ranjan looked after Anant's finances, which Shravan took up after Ranjan's arrest.

Anant was arrested in connection with the kidnap of four youths.

Police had recovered three of them on June 17 and the dead body of the fourth was recovered from Ladma village, Anant's native place, the day after.

Those arrested in the case said they had indulged in the crime on the instructions of the Mokama MLA.

The police had searched Anant's house and arrested him on June 24, and came to know of another FIR, in connection with Raju's kidnapping.
