Gaya, Sept. 10: Meditation Park on Mahabodhi Mahavihara might soon get a renovation on the lines of parks in Japan.
A Japanese architect has shown interest to beautify the Meditation Park on Mahabodhi Mahavihara premises in Bodhgaya. The architect, Takashita, on Wednesday made a PowerPoint Presentation to Gaya district magistrate-cum-Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) chairman Sanjay Kumar Agarwal in this regard. Through the presentation, he described the features that could be developed on the meditation park campus. BTMC had called the architect under its Mahabodhi complex beautification project.
Takashita showed designs of wall fountain, stream, waterfall, plant and garden, meditation house and memorial tower that could be developed on the meditation park campus. The park is spread over an acre on southeastern part of the Mahavihara.
The existing park on Mahabodhi Mahavihara has a meditation hut, two peace bells, a lotus-shaped tank and a congregation hall with a capacity for 200 people. After getting permission from the committee, devotees can go to the park for meditation.
Takashita said the meditation park could also be decorated with stones of various colours from Japan and it would be eco-friendly.
“A team of 25 to 30 experts from Japan would work on the meditation park project. BTMC will have to make available accommodation for the experts. At least two engineers with an expertise in developing parks can be sent to Japan to have a discussion and finalise the project,” he said.
The district magistrate asked the architect to prepare an estimate for the project. After the project with the detailed estimate is submitted, it would be presented at the BTMC board meeting. After getting approval from the BTMC board, the contract could be awarded to the architect.
At present, Takashita is working on a project awarded by Delhi Development Authority in the national capital. According to the project, a peace museum and a Japanese park are being developed on a 10-acre land in Indraprastha.
