Patna, July 7: Aspiring engineers in the state capital have yet another address in the country to pursue their dreams — Asians Institute of Technology (AIT).
Admission co-ordinators from the Jaipur-based Asians Institute of Technology organised a news meet to spread information about its courses and facilities, at a city hotel today.
Class XII passouts with 50 per cent and more marks are eligible to apply to the college, said the co-ordinators.
Timir Nath, an admission co-ordinator from the institute, said: “We offer six courses of engineering, including mechanical, civil, electrical, electronics and communication, computer science and information technology, with 60 seats each. Students who have scored 50 per cent and above marks in Class XII and ranked in All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) are eligible to apply. The students must also have physics, chemistry and mathematics in Class XII. Successful AIEEE candidates are admitted after counselling.”
On the fee structure, Nath said: “The per semester tuition and hostel fee is Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.”
Prahlad Sharma, another admission co-ordinator, said the institute also provides scholarship to financially backward and meritorious students.
“The fee structure will not be a hurdle for students from underprivileged background. The institute provides 10 per cent to 50 per cent scholarship to meritorious candidates. Students are also sent to companies like Acer, TVS, MTS and Infosys for internship. Big companies also come to the institute for placement. For further information, students can visit the institute website, www.ait.edu.in.”
The Asians Institute of Technology, which was started two years ago by Gayatri Devi Sansthan, a society working towards promotion of technical education, is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to Rajasthan Technical University.
Nath said the institute has 52 faculty members with a 1:15 teacher student ratio.
Nath added: “The institute campus spread over 10 acre area, is located 50km away from Jaipur railway station and 35km from Jaipur airport. The institute laboratories also meet the AICTE norms.”
