IPS trio head for Centre

Three IPS officers from Bihar were picked for central deputation today.

Patna, Jan. 20: Three IPS officers from Bihar were picked for central deputation today.

The officers selected are A.S. Nilekar Chandra (994 batch), Daljeet Singh (2007 batch) and Praveen Vashishta (1991 batch). While Chandra and Singh will be deputed with the Central Bureau of Investigation, Vashishta will be posted in the Union home ministry.

Chandra is at present inspector-general (IG) in the vigilance investigation bureau and Singh holds the post of assistant to IG (headquarters). Vashishta is IG, Bihar Human Rights Commission.

There are 231 Bihar cadre IPS officers. At present, 39 IPS officers are serving at the Centre against the sanctioned reserve of 74. This means 35 more officers may go to Delhi on deputation for a period of five years. Sources in the home department said two IG-rank officers, Naiyyar Hasnain Khan and S.K. Jha, are likely to return from central deputation in the next couple of months. Khan is posted with Sashastra Seema Bal and Jha holds the post of joint director, CBI.

"Another IPS officer Anil Kishore Yadav would also return from the Centre sooner or later this year," a senior police officer said.

Six Bihar cadre IPS officers of the 2014 batch, who are undergoing training at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, have been allotted districts for field training. Two of them, Santosh Kumar and Daya Shankar, are from Bihar; Kartikey, Nidhi, Vipin and Yogendra are from Jharkhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, respectively.
