Illegal gun factory unearthed

Patna, July 14: Unearthing a mini gun factory in Rohtas, police today seized a huge cache of finished and unfinished firearms. One person was arrested in this connection.

Rohtas superintendent of police Manu Maharaj said a police team conducted a raid on the illegal gun factory at Barna village under Rajpur police station acting on a tip-off and recovered six country-made rifles, four unfinished rifles and a large quantity of equipment used for making illegal firearms. Ramji Mistri, a resident of Aurangabad, was arrested. The SP said the gun factory was allegedly run by Dhananjay Tiwari alias Lakaria Baba, lodged in the Sasaram district jail.

The police had received information about the firearms made at the unit being supplied to the Maoists with the help of one Sambhal Pasi, the SP said, adding that raids were on to arrest the others involved in the arms deal racket. A resident of Nawadih in Aurangabad, Mistri admitted the arms manufactured at the unit were supplied to the Maoists in Bihar and Jharkhand.
