Patna, Feb. 24: Students of Indian Institute of Technology-Patna, have taken the fest route to showcase their abilities.

A three-day tech-fest, Anwesha (quest), started on the institute premises today.

The events include a wide array of programmes such as a concert by Faridkot, a New Delhi-based band, which will perform on the closing night on February 26. Renowned stand-up comedian Kumar Vishwas performed today.

Students from various engineering colleges, including IIT-Patna, BIT Patna, NIT Patna, ISM Dhanbad and IIT-Guwahati, are taking part in the fest. During the tech-fest, students would participate in quiz and other technical sessions.

IIT-Patna director A.K. Bhowmick said: “Anwesha is the fest of students by the students and for the students. They have organised the programme, with very little help from the faculty members. IIT’s education is different from the normal education system. This is why IIT students become leaders in society. They know how to manage things in a better way. IIT students hold top positions in different fields and I am hopeful that even the students of IIT-Patna will secure the top slots in various government as well as private sector units.”

Patna divisional commissioner K.P. Ramaiah said: “IIT-Patna will be a great promise for Bihar in the coming days as the institute will spread the honour and pride of Bihar all over the country.”

Director-general of police Abhayanand in his inaugural address asked the IITians to be more innovative. “IITians have high intellectual levels and this should be utilised to do some good work for the society.”
