Patna, March 7: The state capital will sport a deserted look for the next four days, as people have started heading home to be with their relatives during Holi.
Several professionals left the town last night to be at their native place before the riot of colours. Fallout: the city streets sported a deserted look this morning.
Truant traffic chaos surprised many. But several citizens felt the dearth of transport today.
“There was no traffic jam today. But I had to wait for a long time at the Income Tax roundabout to get an autorickshaw to go to my workplace,” Shristi Sinha, who works at a private bank, told The Telegraph.
Unlike the city roads, the Mithapur bus stand was abuzz with activities. Hundreds queued up there to board buses to their hometown.
“Today is the last working day of this week at my office. We have a long weekend ahead. I requested my boss to give me a day off today and he agreed. I will be at home in five hours and have loads of fun with my relatives and friends this Holi,” said an excited Dheeraj Kumar, a computer professional and resident of Muzaffarpur district.

Nilesh Singh, on his way to Samastipur, said the festival of colours loses sheen without family members.
“I have a good friends’ circle here but one should be with his or her family during Holi,” Nilesh said.
Neha Anand, who hails from Ranchi in Jharkhand and works in private bank here, echoed Nilesh.
“I had booked my train ticket a month before. I will be boarding the train late this evening,” she said.
Nitin Kumar, who hails from Jamshedpur and works in a Patna-based private firm, would be in the state capital during Holi, though. After office, he stocked up food and beverages this evening apprehending the stores would reopen next Monday.
