Patna, June 26: Commuters were in for a shock, as Naxalites lobbed a bomb at JP Roundabout today to rescue one of their members from police custody.
However, there was no reason to worry, as only a mahurat of a Bhojpuri film, Chalal Lal Chingari, was being shot.
More than 400 people gathered at the site to catch the mahurat shots of Chalal Lal Chingari, which took around three hours.
Director Aakash Yogi spoke to The Telegraph on the storyline and budget of the film that has Naxalism as its theme.
Along with Chalal Lal Chingari, the mahurat of Yogi’s other upcoming Bhojpuri film, Rotiya Bhail Muhal, was also shot at the same site today.
On Chalal Lal Chingari, Yogi said: “The film is being made at a budget of Rs 50 lakh. It deals with Naxalism and why a distraught youth takes such a path in life and how it affects the family members. All this will be shown in the movie, which also suggests a solution at the end.”
On the cast members, he said: “Rahul Singh plays the Naxalite lead in Chalal Lal Chingari. Sarika Sanghmitra is cast opposite him. Chandrabhushan Tiwari, who plays the brother of the Naxalite character, is the second lead along with Preeti Singhani. We wanted a complete package and decided to incorporate every element. So, there is also a romantic angle in the film between the second leads of the movie.”
Actors Kunal Singh, Archita Masi, Srikant, Upasna Singh and others also feature in the movie.
Yogi added that most of the actors in Chalal Lal Chingari are repeated in Rotiya Bhail Muhal, including Chandrabhushan Tiwari and Preeti Singhani, who are again cast opposite each other.
On Rotiya Bhail Muhal, Yogi said: “The film is based on a family and two brothers. The film traces the love between the brothers and how everything changes between them once both of them get married. This film will be a good watch for people who want to catch it with family members.”
Both the films will be shot at different locations in and around Patna and Rajgir, Yogi said.
Udit Narayan, Kailash Kher, Suresh Wadekar, Anuradha Paudwal and Sadhana Sargam are only a few who have lent their voices to the songs in Chalal Lal Chingari and Rotiya Bhail Muhal.
During the mahurat, resident Khurshid Alam could be seen taking autographs from actors Rahul and Sarika. Alam said: “I had never met any Bhojpuri actor before and as I was just passing by, I decided not to miss the chance to see the stars.”
