The town has been glowing with pride after one of its sons cracked the Union Public Service Examination (UPSC), 2011, at the very first attempt and clinched the 111th rank in the coveted Indian Administrative Service.

Rotary Motihari Lake Town Club felicitated 24-year-old Vikram Vardhan for his feat at a function at the IMA building late on Tuesday evening.

The newly selected IAS officer for Bihar cadre shared his views with the people of Motihari. “Champaran has inspired me much since my childhood. I used to hear incidents of its glorious past from my parents and teachers. I want to live with my parents and work for the betterment of the people living here,” said Vardhan, whose ancestral house is in Motihari.
