Gaya, April 13: Students in the UK, US and Germany would soon be reading a book on the research findings of a mathematics professor residing here.

Armed with a doctorate in science (DSc) from Magadh University (MU), Manoranjan Kumar Singh, a professor of the MU postgraduate department, is now taking his exemplary work to foreign shores. A Germany-based publishing company has already published the research paper in form of a book, which has been recommended for inclusion in the postgraduate syllabus of mathematics in Germany.

Bihar governor-cum-chancellor Devanand Konwar had conferred the DSc upon Singh at the 20th convocation of Magadh University on December 20 last year for his research on “Some contribution to fuzzification of various mathematical concepts”. LAP Lambert Academic Publishing GmBH & Co. of Germany has now published the entire contents of the research paper in the form of a book titled, Theory of Fuzzy Structures and Applications in 2010. The book has also been printed in the US and UK.

MU vice-chancellor Arvind Kumar said the DSc has been awarded to a mathematics teacher for the first time in the science faculty from any university of Bihar after 1917.

Singh told The Telegraph: “In March 2010, I received an email from Lambert company acquisition editor Tatanic Melnic, asking me to send the contents of my research work for assessment by a board of editors and the publication team. So I mailed back my research work to them. In July, I received a mail confirming its acceptance of being published in the form of a book. Later, I got another email, informing me that the book had been included in the postgraduate mathematics course in Germany,” Singh said.

Singh’s papers on various topics have been published in different journals in India and abroad.
