Patna, July 10: Inner Wheel Club of Patna has decided to adopt Dhanki village, near Kumhrar, in its new term.
Rashmi Agrawal, the newly elected president for 2011-2012, announced this at the 11th installation ceremony of the office-bearers. She took charge today at a programme organised at Bihar Industries Association auditorium.
Rashmi said: “We have been working in various fields, including health, hygiene and education of poor children. This time, we decided to adopt Dhanki village and carry out welfare work for the residents. We will emphasise on polio eradication programmes along with vocational education training, drug abuse, AIDS awareness and hygiene. ”
Rashmi made a special mention of the work done by former president Vidya Narayan who developed Shishu Niketan School for the downtrodden. Vidya had also started the flooring work of the Danapur orphanage.
“In the new term, our focus will be to complete the work started by Vidya,” added Rashmi.
Dr Neelam Verma, paediatrician, Patna Medical College and Hospital, was the chief guest at the function. She emphasised the need to work towards empowerment of women. She also suggested that the club should to take up projects related to girls’ education, prevention of child marriage and family planning measures.
