The son of a former RJD minister was arrested from the Jakkanpur police station area of the capital on Friday on the charge of violating the ban on sale and consumption of alcohol in the state.

Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manu Maharaaj said acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid at a house at Mithapur.

Lakhan is the son of former animal husbandry minister Vidyasagar Nishad, who is an accused in the multi-crore fodder scam being probed by the central bureau of investigation (CBI).

SSP Maharaaj said the police seized 12 bottles of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor from a house belonging to Lakhan's relative Ramji Choudhary.

The house was being used as a "bar" to serve customers, the cops said.

Lakhan was later produced before a local court, which remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days. Charges under relevant sections of the prohibition law have been slapped against the former minister's son.
