Festive swing: It's the time to dandiya

Get ready to shake your legs to the beats of the dandiya dhol as organisations have organised festive fiestas .

Durga Puja committees of the city and various clubs have also matched steps to make this Puja memorable.

Marwari Yuva Manch's Patna Central branch would organise a dandiya night on October 20 at Youth Hostel. Meghna Naidu of Kaliyon ka Chaman fame would be one of the attractions at the event..

Sunil Kumar Narsariya, the president of the association, said: "We have arranged for 10,000 free passes . Those who want them could contact our sponsors including Radhekrishna Jewellers, Sevika Jewellers and Jalan Shop among others .."

DJ Fitz from Calcutta would be at the console to make people groove on to his beats.

Rotary Patna City Samrat is also organising a dandiya night on October 18 at Bhagwat Banquet Hall at Bhagwat Nagar. The organisers have arranged for family passes .

Inner Wheel Club of Patna City would also organise a dandiya night on October 17 at Sanatan Dharm Parishad. Kavita Poddar, a member of the club, said: "A dandiya competition would be organised," said Poddar.

Passes are required to enjoy the Inner Wheel Club event. The organisers are selling them for Rs 200 each.

Dandiya does not look like the only dance form that residents will enjoy this festive season. Gulzarbagh Sanskriti Parishad, which is celebrating its 104th puja this yea, will organise a Bengali traditional dhunuchi naach competition on Navami.

Dhunuchi naach is a traditional dance form of Bengal, in which dancers dance with earthenware containing glowing embers.

Patna Kalibari would also organise a dhunuchi naach competition on the same day, but with a slight difference as its participants would be children. Gulzarbagh Sanskriti Parishad has also planned a one-hour Bengali comedy play on Ashtami, while on Navami, they will offer pandal-hoppers a chance to sing with their orchestra.

PWD Club has planned an instrumental music programme by a troupe from Calcutta on Ashtami. The club would also organise quiz and painting competitions for children on Saptami, said its member, Sandip Roy.

Boring Road resident Ipshita Nandi (25) has started preparing for the dandiya night already. "I have arranged for a glamorous ghaghra choli for the occasion."

Vibha Agrawal (32) from Patliputra said she would take part in the dandiya night along with her husband Sanjay. " I am really excited. We started rehearsing for the event about a month ago to match our steps better."
