Patna, July 11: Lalu Prasad is back at 1 Aney Marg after a long time - this time for chief minister Nitish Kumar's iftar.

Last year, the feast was organised by Jitan Ram Manjhi who had taken special care of Rabri Devi as Lalu was in Delhi.

Every year, Nitish organises iftar during Ramazan but this time it is a bit different because both the RJD and the JDU are contesting the upcoming Assembly elections in alliance. Congress legislative party leader Sadanand Singh and Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Choudhary were also there with Lalu.

Before breaking the fast along with other politicians, Nitish offered prayer with others. The prayer was led by Maulana Sameem Monmi. Every year, the namaz used to take place in the lawn. However, this year it took place in the area where the weekly janata durbar is held.

After offering prayers, the chief minister walked to the area to check arrangements where people were about to have the delicacies. Nitish requested everyone not to leave the premises without having food, which was cooked by Rehman Barwarchi of the Patna City area.

In the non-vegetarian, the menu included nargees kebab, murg musalam and mutton kalia with plain biryani. The menu also had bakarkani roti, makuti, sheer chai, payaju, baigan bhara, mirch pakoda and chana masala. Dates and mineral water were offered to the regular namazis at the entrance.

Around 450 people were involved in cooking food for 6,000 people and around 700 people were deputed to serve the spread.

After supervising the arrangement, Nitish went to the air-conditioned room where all senior leaders, including RJD legislative party leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui, were seated.

Nitish offered a vegetarian plate to Lalu sitting next to him. Nitish also had the same including one banana.

Senior Congress leader and former Kerala governor Nikhil Kumar was also sitting in the same row, while seeing him with no plate in his hand, Nitish stood up from his chair, walked a few steps and offered him a dish to eat.

Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary was also present apart from senior party leader and water resources minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary.

After having a little bit, Nitish left the room to monitor the situation outside. Lalu also followed him, saying: I cannot attend Sonia Gandhi's iftar in Delhi as on July 13, I will be in Patna to take part in the Raj Bhavan march. I have also organised Iftar party at my 10 Circular Road residence."

However, Nitish confirmed this morning that he would attend Sonia's iftar.
