Patna, June 17: The students coming out in flying colours in All India Engineering Entrance Examination or IIT-JEE but failing in the CBSE Class XII exam has a glimmer of hope. The state government will send a list of such students to the board headquarters in New Delhi with a request for reviewing their papers.
HRD principal secretary Anjani Kumar Singh today said: “The state government has decided to send a list having the names of the students who have failed in Class XII examination but done well in the entrance tests to the CBSE office in New Delhi. We will request the board to review their papers.”
The aggrieved students can submit their applications to K.K. Sinha, director, secondary education, with copies of their marksheets, admit cards and other documents. Thereafter, the state government will send a list of names to the CBSE headquarters with a request for reviewing their copies. The state government would act as a facilitator for the students who have doubts over their marks in the CBSE Class XII, Singh said at his weekly janata darbar today.
The HRD principal secretary said: “The state government aims to help such students who have secured less marks in the Class XII examination. But it is up to the CBSE authorities to decide whether the concerned students’ copies would be re-checked or re-totalled.”
When The Telegraph contacted L.L. Meena, the assistant secretary of CBSE, Patna Zone, he refused to comment on the issue.
The state government’s decision will rekindle hope of bright career among several students who have not done well in the Class XII board examination but cracked the medical or engineering entrance tests.
Abhishek Kumar, a student of Shivam High School at Kankerbagh, said: “My AIEEE all-India rank is 39,000. I had even appeared at National Institute of Technology, Patna, for counselling. I was offered good colleges I can’t take admission in any of them but because of my Class XII marks.”
Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi had yesterday called the CBSE Patna zone officials and enquired about the alleged average marking. He urged the CBSE officials to help the students.
