Patna, May 14: The Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL) has decided to go ahead with its decision to take over the ownership of the DAV BSEB School from its current owners.
The company has asked DAV to hand over control by June 1. The company will approach interested parties and invite them to run the school after taking over the ownership from the DAV group.
Rajiv Ranjan, general manager (human resources) BSPHCL, said the company would issue a tender notice for the new partner as soon as the company get the required details about the school.
"We had asked the DAV group and the principal to send a list of the current students, teaching and non-teaching staff, and other required papers which they are yet to send," Rajiv said.
"We also held a meeting with the principal on May 2 regarding the land eviction. We have decided to stick to our decision."
The school had its affiliation restored on April 27 after following the board's guidelines. CBSE officials, however, were not able to clarify whether the school's affiliation would continue after the change in ownership.
Arvind Kumar, assistant secretary of CBSE regional office (Bihar and Jharkhand), said the matter was complicated and it was too early to say anything. "Though the students of Class X and XII who are registered with the board will be allowed to appear for the examination next year, it is difficult to state what the affiliation unit would decide once the ownership changes."
School principal V.S. Ojha said an association of the parents and the teachers will be constituted to ensure that the school functions in a proper manner.
"We are hopeful that the company will cooperate with the DAV group as all grievances were solved," said Ojha.
"Earlier, there was a concern regarding the kids' future but the board had restored the affiliation. We are now trying to convince the company to reconsider their decision. I have asked the DAV college managing committee to be present at the company's next meeting."
Parents were, however, concerned about their wards' future.
Rakesh Kumar, whose ward studies at DAV BSEB School, said: "Earlier, we were worried about the school's affiliation. Now, we are tensed about what would happen to the school when the partnership between the two breaks. We did request the company to reconsider their decision but in vain. I hope there would be some positive result at the next meeting."
