Muzaffarpur, Aug. 23: Hundreds of students affiliated to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad stormed the residential quarters of Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University vice-chancellor Rajdev Prasad Singh this afternoon.
The students were protesting against the arbitrary working of the officials of Langat Singh College. The police were called in to contain the students. Later, the students also closed down the administrative building after forcing the officers and employees to vacate it.
The protest started when the employees of Langat Singh College refused to take admission in the Intermediate science and arts streams and Part I of the three-year degree courses and left the office after closing down the admission counters. The college principal, Suniti Pandey, was also absent for the day. Candidates seeking admission had gathered at Langat Singh College this morning according to the schedule of admission.
The harassed students contacted members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad who spearheaded the protest.
The station house officer of Kazimohammadpur police, Baleshwar Prasad, arrived at the site with a large force to pacify the students.
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad national secretary Ramashankar Sinha, told The Telegraph: “A delegation of students, led by the district secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Kaushik Kumar Singh, met the vice-chancellor and submitted a memorandum deploring the high-handedness of the employees of Langat Singh College.” The vice-chancellor has assured that necessary steps would be taken against the erring employees.
