Dibrugarh, Oct. 10: Bedanta Kumar Sinha, a resident engineer at National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, was abducted by suspected Ulfa (I) militants from his rented house at Bordumsa in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday evening.

The engineer is a resident of Bihar and had been living in the rented house for the past one month.

Sources said security forces informed Bordumsa police station today. 'We cannot ascertain who is behind the kidnapping but we suspect it to be the handiwork of Ulfa (I). We have informed the family members,' Janwang Hangphuk, second officer-in-charge of Bordumsa police station, said. 'We have not got any information about any extortion amount being demanded from him,'' he said.

According to sources, security forces have launched a search operation.
