Patna, Sept. 12: Tourists and travellers in the state will soon be able to lodge at motel-like facilities near highways.

Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) will soon inaugurate two restaurant-cum-lodging facilities near Patna. Two more are under construction.

Tourism minister Sunil Kumar ‘Pappu’ told The Telegraph: “There are hardly any lodging facilities for tourists on routes to various places in the state. So many of them are uncomfortable while travelling in the state. Therefore, we decided to develop restaurants and small hotels for tourists along highways in the state.”

Sources said the eateries would serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies. Travellers could also nibble on snacks.

Sunil said: “They would also have other facilities like dining area, restrooms and lounge.”

Moreover, these restaurants would have large space for parking vehicles, like two-wheelers, four-wheelers and buses.

The tourism minister added: “The site for these restaurants and hotels would be provided by Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited. Two restaurants near Patna — on the Old Bypass Road and Jehanabad — are likely to be inaugurated by October. Two more, on Patna-Bodhgaya road and Maheshkut in Khagaria, are also being built.”

Sources said the facility on Patna-Bodhgaya road is near Hethua.
