Patna: Doctors in Bihar are miffed with the recent crackdown of the Rajasthan government on doctors on strike in that state.

The Rajasthan government has arrested a few doctors under the Rajasthan Essential Services Maintenance Act (RESMA). The Bihar Health Services Association (BHSA) and the state chapter of All India Federation of Government Doctors Association would organise a peaceful protest by wearing black badges on duty on November 14 in support of their counterpart in Rajasthan. The BHSA have threatened "a big movement" in case the Bihar government failed to fulfil their long-pending demands.

Both BHSA and All India Federation of Government Doctors Association shotoff a letter to chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday seeking hisintervention in the Rajasthan doctor's matter.

The government there wants to terrorizethe doctor community which is intolerable. We would wear black badges insupport of Rajasthan doctors on November 14. In case the government theretakes undue action and victimize doctors, doctors associated with BHSAwould not hesitate in taking any further step as decided by All IndiaFederation of Government Doctors Association (AIFGDA), said generalsecretary of BHSA Dr. Ranjit Kumar at a press conference in IMA buildingadding that all the demands of the Rajasthan doctors were genuine.

“ They (Rajasthan doctors) have demanded benefits of dynamic assured careerprogression (ACP) benefits on the lines of doctors working in centralhospitals besides asking security and promotion benefits. All these aregenuine demands. BHSA has also been asking the similar demands to the stategovernment. The government here must assure the implementation of itsearlier promises otherwise we would be forced to take some big step andlaunch a big movement here, said Ranjit.

*Medical association demands fair probe in doctor’s arrest matter*

BHSA sought a fair probe into the matter of one Raza Bazaar-based ENTspecialist’s arrest over the charges of molesting his domestic help, whohappens to be a minor. The doctor was arrested on Saturday. “BHSA hasnever supported doctors in the cases of corruption or sexual assault. Ouronly demand to the state government is to conduct a fair probe into thismatter, added Ranjit.
