| Volkerschlachtdenkmal group members (from left) Abhinav, Manish Kumar Bharti and Sumita Sinha present dishes to judge Dusmanta Chakra, a German language expert at Max Mueller Bhavan, Pune, at German Language Centre in Patna on Sunday. The group is named after Volkerschlachtdenkmal, a monument in Leipzig, Germany. The group, which included VS Rohan, Abhishek Singh and Anurag Atulya — all students at the centre — put up Sweet Heart Salad, chicken rice and kartoffelsuppe (potato soup) during a German cuisine competition, Deutsche Kuche. Seven groups took part in the contest and delectable dishes like potato salad, Bavarian crème (a dessert), meatballs, chocolate tarts, Schoko-Nuss Gugelhupf (marble cake), Scharfe Kuerbissuppe (soup), Huhner schnitzel (cutlet) and German sauerkraut (fermented cabbage dish) were up for evaluation. Apart from Chakra, the other judges were city-based chefs Salim and BK Singh. The Beste Kuche award in the junior category went to the group Die Allianz Arena (Allianz Arena is the home of German football club Bayern Munich) and Das Brandenburger Tor group (The Brandenburg Gate in Berlin) in the senior category.
