Tough times ahead |
Patna, Sept. 24: Prolonged power cuts extending up to six hours inflicted misery on residents of the state capital this week owing to maintenance work on 33KV feeders and power grid sub-station for providing uninterrupted supply during Durga Puja.
Residents in some parts of western, southern and central Patna had to face power cuts for three to seven hours today owing to maintenance work on 33KV feeders and grid sub-station.
Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (Pesu) has undertaken maintenance work on 33KV feeders in every sub-division to provide uninterrupted power supply during Durga Puja and also as a part of its ambitious plan to provide round-the-clock supply to the residents.
Pesu had yesterday announced that power supply would be hampered for two hours from 1pm to 3pm in some parts of central and eastern Patna owing to maintenance work at three grid sub-stations in Mithapur, Gaighat and Fatuha.
Bihar State Electricity Board spokesman H.R. Pandey told The Telegraph: “Earlier, the plan was to shut down the grids from 1pm but it was finally done around 2.30pm. Similarly, maintenance work on 33KV feeders have been carried out for the past few days to strengthen the distribution system.”
Areas affected owing to grid maintenance work today were Gulzarbagh, Patna City, Marufganj, Saidpur, Rajendra Nagar, Nala Road, Exhibition Road, Gandhi Maidan, Mithapur, Kankerbagh, Bahadurpur, Kumhrar, Agamkuan, Gaighat, Tripoliya, Bus Stand and Mina Bazar.
However, people in the western part of the city through the week had to face power cuts up to seven hours due to maintenance work of 33KV feeders of Khagaul III, IV and Canal, whereas Pesu has announced power cut from 10.30am to 4pm.
The areas that were affected due to the maintenance work of 33KV feeders in the western part were Danapur, Garikhana, some localities along Bailey Road, Rajabazaar, IGIMS, Excise Colony, Patli- putra, Rajiv Nagar, Kesri Nagar, Indrapuri and Shivpuri.
