Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students, seeking changes in duplicate marksheets or certificates, will have to pay more from this year.
Class X and XII students will have to pay double for name change in duplicate marksheets.
The charges have been raised keeping in mind the huge rush that the CBSE has to witness every year.
For name change, the CBSE has raised the charge to Rs 1,000 from Rs 500. For migration certificate/marksheet/passing certificate, the board would charge Rs 100, a cent percent hike.
The charge will be applicable on duplicate marksheets provided through posts, whereas during emergency, a student will have to pay Rs 200 instead of Rs 100. The latter is given either on the same day or the next day from the CBSE office.
S.M. Jha, the media in-charge of Gyan Niketan, told The Telegraph: “The CBSE sends a checklist to the schools to verify the names and other credentials of the students. We often find that students do not go through the checklist properly and sign on it.”
Alok Kumar, who has taken the Class X examination this year, said: “The charge to rectify names should not be so high. Many students would now hesitate to get their names corrected since the charge has been doubled.”
Sonam, whose son has taken the Class XII examination this year, said: “The parents will be the worst sufferers. If we have to pay big amounts for simple things like these, then what will we do at the time of admission?”
