Patna: With regard to the news report "Axis Bank eye on Bihar heritage structures" published in The Telegraph on June 26, 2018, we would like to state that it was another private sector bank, and not Axis Bank, which had shown interest in the Mahabodhi Temple and the ruins of the ancient Nalanda University in Bihar under the central government's "Adopt a Heritage" project, and had been in talks with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Axis Bank, on its part, has communicated that no such initiatives are currently under its consideration. The error was a result of miscommunication, and is deeply regretted.
