Patna, Oct. 19: Two students of the city-based St Dominic Savio’s High School, who were traced to Amritsar yesterday afternoon, are now in the custody of Patna police and are being brought back to the state capital.
Patna city superintendent of police (west) Upendra Sharma told The Telegraph that the two boys were with Patna police team now and were being brought back to the state capital.
“They are with the police and are being brought back. The entire story will be clear only after they reach the state capital,” the officer said.
Sources said Class X student Jai Prakash, who wanted to explore new places for fun, had lured Vibhakar, the Class V student, to join his plans. Both are roommates staying at the school hostel under SK Puri police station.
“Vibhakar’s father had lodged an FIR with the police station, accusing Jai Prakash of luring Vibhakar. Though the police cannot say anything concrete before the boys return to Patna, both are known to be very good friends. It is not clear about the kind of funds they had for travel and from where they got the money,” another police officer said.
Cases of teenagers disappearing from their homes or schools or planning self-abduction has been common in the state capital.
On October 17, police recovered Ritu Ranjan, a student of Class VIII of Lohia Mount Carmel School and a resident of P&T Colony under Patrakar Nagar police station, who went missing last Saturday. The police later said the boy had planned his own abduction as he held grudges against his elder brother, who had beaten him a day before for not attending his tuition classes.
On July 7, the police recovered 13-year-old Ajay Kumar, alias Raja, a Class VIII student of Railway High School in Danapur, who had planned his own abduction in order to extract Rs 2 lakh from his mother.
On February 24, the police cracked a case in which 13-year-old Dheeraj Kumar, a resident of Birla Colony in Phulwarisharif, had planned his own abduction to extract Rs 15,000 from his parents just to have some fun with the money.
City psychiatrists too said that parents need to be careful. “Most parents keep too busy and have got little or no time for their children. There is little or no interaction between them. The child is left alone in his own world and only gets friends for interaction. With no adult supervision, they easily pick up bad habits and wrong company. Parents have a big responsibility and they should take care of it properly,” said Sujit Kumar, a city-based psychiatrist.
