Motihari, July 19: Police are still clueless about Khushboo Devi, who was abducted yesterday from Durga Mandir in the town by her father.
Her husband, Krishna Kumar Ram, who was allegedly beaten up by his father-in-law and other abductors, told the police today that his in-laws had been threatening him ever since his wedding last year.
Admitted to Motihari sadar hospital with critical injuries, Krishna said: “Ever since her elopement and subsequent marriage in 2011, we have been getting threat calls. Hence, we preferred to live in Hissar, Haryana, where I used to work at a construction site with my father.”
The police lodged an FIR at Motihari Town police station based on Krishna’s statements. Singh along with his nephews Tripurari Singh, and two other persons have been named accused.
They are yet to make any progress in the investigation of the case. Town police station house officer Ramashish Kamti said: “We have launched extensive raids at different places but are yet to get any clues.”
Khushboo Devi, 22, was kidnapped yesterday from Durga Mandir on Chandmari Road in the town, The abductors, which allegedly included her father Raghvendra Singh, also attacked Krishna with a sharp weapon and threw the couple’s six-month-old daughter on the road.
Krishna also said: “We were a very happy couple. But we had to return to the state as my wife had to appear in court to depose in case against me. We also had to collect our marriage certificate from the office of the district sub-registrar.” The police said his daughter has been given to a local orphanage for the time being and his family members in Haryana have been informed.
