Patna, Jan. 28: Kadamkuan police have not yet managed to make any arrest in connection with yesterday’s assault on a senior journalist, Amarnath Tiwary, allegedly by a BJP leader and her associates in the Rajendra Nagar area.

“We have received complaints from both sides. Since this is a high profile case, we have sought directions from our seniors,” said an officer posted at the Kadamkuan police station on Saturday.

The officer added that separate cases have been lodged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Alok Kumar said the cops were verifying the allegations levelled by both the sides.

Tiwary, in his complaint, alleged that Madhu Verma, her son Rituraj and their driver hurled abuses and later attacked him when he was monitoring watering of plants at the park of the apartment around 10.30 am on Friday.

Tiwari claimed that he managed to escape unharmed because other residents of the apartment had intervened. He also accused the associates of the BJP leader of assaulting the residents.

The journalist was taken to Gardiner Hospital. He was discharged after being administered first aid. Tiwari and Madhu are residents of Char Minar Apartment.

The SSP said Friday’s incident was a sequel to differences over election of office bearers in the association of the Char Minar Apartment at Rajendra Nagar. “We are trying to ascertain what has exactly happened,” he added.

What has stunned many is the fact that no police officer has visited Char Minar Apartment even after 24 hours since the incident.
