New Delhi, March 28: Delhi police today said 10 suspected members of Indian Mujahideen were arrested from Rajasthan’s Jodhpur and Sikar areas over the past three days.

Acting on a tip off from Delhi police’s special cell, which busted the terror outfit’s Rajasthan module last Sunday, Rajasthan police nabbed the 10 members of the outlawed outfit.

“They were arrested after their names were revealed by the five suspected terrorists who were arrested on Sunday,” said S.N. Srivastava, special commissioner (special cell) of Delhi police.

On Sunday, Delhi police nabbed a top IM operative Ziaur Rahman alias Waqas, a Pakistani national from Ajmer, along with his three other associates from Jaipur — Mohammed Mahruf, Mohammed Waqar Azhar and Shaquib Ansari.

Another suspected IM commander, Tehsin Akhtar, was arrested from Darjeeling on Tuesday.

“During interrogation the five arrested IM operatives revealed their names and we immediately alerted Rajasthan police, which carried out raids subsequently and nabbed 10 people in the past three days,” Srivastava added.

All the 10 suspects are aged between 20-25 years.

Five of the accused identified as Barkat Ali, Shakib, Adil, Mohammed Javed and Mohammed Iqbal, were arrested from different locations from Jodhpur, while the rest identified as Umar, Shahzad, Abdul Waheed, Waqar Shakeel and Addas were arrested from Sikar.

“They were part of the same IM module and were providing logistic support to the five suspected terrorists arrested earlier. They participated in several meetings held by the Waqas,” another Delhi police official said.

Akhtar, who hailed from Darbhanga in Bihar, was the officiating head of the Indian Mujahideen after the arrest of the outfit’s commander Yasin Bhatkal last year.

Police said Akhtar was heading terror operations in India and was in direct touch with the Bhatkal brothers, Riyaz and Iqbal, the co-founders of the outfit said to be hiding in Pakistan, police said.

“If needed we will interrogate the 10 members of the IM’s Rajasthan module who are being interrogated by the Jodhpur police. A preliminary probe has revealed that they were not involved in any blast but provided logistic support to the five accused arrested earlier,” Srivastava said.
