Nitish Kumar on Thursday donated a month's salary to the chief minister's relief fund for earthquake victims, reports our special correspondent.

The chief minister handed a cheque of Rs 1 lakh - his salary for a month - to Chanchal Kumar, the secretary in charge of the chief minister's relief fund. Nitish also appealed to the cabinet ministers, legislature officials and others to also donate generously for the earthquake victims. Congress MLC Ramchandra Bharti also handed over a cheque for Rs 2 lakh towards the chief minister's relief fund.

Later in the evening, Nitish monitored the relief materials being sent to Nepal
