Patna, Aug. 9: The date of entrance examination of bachelor of law (LLB), Patna University, is likely to be deferred. The examination is, at present, scheduled on August 12.

University sources said the examination department is not in a position to hold the entrance as it is lagging behind in its preparations.

Rakesh Verma, the principal of Patna Law College, said: “Though I have not received any official letter from the university regarding postponement of examination but I have come to know the varsity is likely to postpone the exam date.”

“The date of examination is August 12, so the varsity should have started issuing the admit cards from August 5. However, none of the students have received their admit cards, making us think that the university is likely to postpone the entrance examination date,” said Verma.

The Law College principal has also written a letter to examination controller D.N. Sharma seeking details about the examination schedule. Verma said: “I have written a letter to examination controller with a plea to clarify whether the varsity is going to hold the examination on August 12. Till now none of the students have received their admit cards also students keep on enquiring about the examination dates.” The principal has also requested the examination controller not to extend the date for “more days” as it will affect the studies.

This year, the Patna University has received more than 650 forms for total 320 seats. The entrance test of 100 marks includes questions on current affairs and legal aptitude.

Sanjeev Sardar, a student who had applied for the entrance in LLB course, said: “Assuming the PU entrance test to be held in the second week of August, we did not apply for the LLB entrance test in other universities. Now, Patna university is planning to extend the date. It will bring more trouble for us.”

The students also complained that the academic calendar of the university is lagging behind. A student said: “Earlier, the varsity was late in declaring results because of which many were not able to apply for higher studies in other universities.”
