The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has lodged an FIR against some office-bearers of Adarsh Vidya Niketan School in Rajeev Nagar and three employees of the Central Board of Secondary Education regional office in Patna on charges of cheating the board and students of the school.
Malti Sinha and Ram Sumer Singh, the principal and manager of the school respectively, and three employees of the CBSE regional office - Rajesh Kumar (assistant), Arvind Kumar Mishra (section officer) and Arvind (assistant secretary) - who were posted in Patna when the alleged fraud took place in 2015, have been made named accused in the CBI FIR, a copy of which was submitted to the special CBI court in Patna on Monday.
The CBI had taken up investigation in the case on the directive of Patna High Court following a petition seeking a detailed probe by an independent agency in the case.
School director Ramashish Yadav said the school lost the affiliation in 2014 and not 2013 but the registered students got admit cards to appear for the 2015 board exam.
"The regional office and former assistant secretary Arvind Kumar Singh assured us that the future of the students would not be jeopardised. The school has no role in issuing wrong documents to students. We distributed the admit cards which we got from the regional office," said Yadav.
He also pointed out that out of 388 students, 212 got their results.
R.R. Meena, CBSE regional officer (Bihar and Jharkhand), said: "All the three accused officials have been transferred to the headquarters. The AVN Public School matter came to light in 2015 when Rashmi Tripathi was the regional officer. I have nothing to do in this matter."
"There are a number of schools that have a tie-up with the affiliated schools. Whenever, the regional office got any tip-off like that, we report it to the headquarters. Then, they send a team to probe the matter. In 2016, we got dozens of complaints from students, parents and locals," he added.
