Salman Khan has rewritten his screen success with yet another big hit on Id. The Devil — also his screen name in Kick — is in the detail, as it mopped up Rs 25,65,507, the highest collection on a single day in Patna.

On its very first day, Friday, Kick collected Rs 23,62,548 in Patna. Within four days, the total collection touched Rs 85 lakh, the collection on Id day being over Rs 25 lakh.

With that festive punch, Kick has entered the Rs 100-crore club, having raked in an impressive Rs 1,10,65,507 till Wednesday.

In fact, Kick has managed to surpass the first day collection of earlier Salman movies released during Id, like Ek Tha Tiger, Bodyguard and Dabangg. Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard (2011) and Ek Tha Tiger (2012) collected Rs 8,53,782, Rs 7,87,500 and Rs 12,37,500, respectively on Day One in city theatres.

Kick was slotted 30 shows — Cinepolis (17), Regent Fun Cinemas (5), Mona (5) and Elphinstone (3).

The footfall at Cinepolis was highest on Tuesday with 4,021 movie-lovers thronging the theatre to watch the movie. Abhishek Ranjan, Cinepolis manager, said: “According to our records, the footfall was highest yesterday (Tuesday). We have never received such a huge crowd for any other film. The last time we saw such crowds was for Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath, when around 3,800 people turned up.”

Even a day after Id, on Wednesday, the collection was equally strong.

However, compared to earlier big releases like Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express and Aamir Khan’s Dhoom:3 (not released during Id, but on Christmas), the collection of Kick was relatively less if the business of the first five days is taken into account.

Last year’s Id release Chennai Express collected Rs 16,85,786 on Day One. Chennai Express and Dhoom:3 had collected Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 1.10 crore, respectively, within four days of their release.

But theatre owners still believe Kick will do maximum business considering that there are no big releases till Akshay Kumar-starrer It’s Entertainment hits the screens on August 8.

Suman Kumar Sinha, chairman-cum-managing director, Regent Theatre Pvt. Ltd, said: “It is true that Kick has not done well when compared to earlier big releases. But Chennai Express was released on Id whereas Kick released four days before the festival. The business that the film did in the four days was a bonus. Actually, the film has released today (Wednesday). Many people couldn’t watch the film in the first four days. But Id onwards, theatres are expected to be packed like never before.”

Film experts also believe that from now onwards the figures will be consistent and escalate as the Id celebration continues. The collection was quite phenomenal before Id.

R.N. Das, film critic and adviser of Cine Society, Patna, said: “A lot of factors decide the fate of a film, especially big-budget ones. These include star value, release date, promotion and others. Most of the times, it has been witnessed that films that didn’t do good business initially went on to become hits at a later stage. So far as Salman Khan films are concerned, he is a star in himself. It might so happen that Kick becomes the highest grosser of Bollywood.”

When the film was released on July 25, Salman’s fans went crazy and predicted it would be the fastest grosser in Bollywood. Danish Rizwan, a resident of Bank Road, watched the movie on Wednesday after celebrating Id the day before. “I had decided that the first thing I would do after Ramazan would be to watch Kick.”
