Motihari, Oct. 28: Sushil Kumar has brought laurels to his hometown Motihari by winning Rs 5 crore in the fifth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. Now, his hometown wants the local hero to be made the brand ambassador of Bihar.

The lead has been taken by local BJP MLA Pramod Kumar who has written letters to Bihar chief minister and his deputy with a copy to the chief secretary urging them to nominate Sushil as the brand ambassador of the state.

“It is my moral duty to plead for the boy who has made the state proud,” said the MLA while justifying his request made to the top functionaries of Bihar.

The MLA’s wishlist does not end with this single demand. He also wants a permanent job for Sushil in a state government office.

Sugarcane industry minister Awadhesh Prasad Kushwaha, who too belongs to East Champaran of which Motihari is the district headquarters, echoed the MLA as far as the demand for a permanent job to Sushil is concerned. “I will take up this matter with the chief minister,” he said.

Sushil, at present, is working as a contractual employee of the state government with a monthly salary of Rs 6,000.

The other pleasant surprise in store for the KBC winner is the grand welcome which his family members and other residents of Motihari intend to give when he returns from Mumbai. “We are going to celebrate Diwali once again on the day Sushil will come back,” said one of his family members.

Sushil, who is still in Mumbai with his wife Seema, however, is not aware of these developments and has his feet firmly on ground as was evident from the telephonic conversation he had with The Telegraph.

“The win would help me solve the financial problems my family is facing,” he said, adding, “But I am not going to take it as an end in itself. I would pursue my dream of making a better career as I was doing before winning this contest.”

The man from Motihari, who has cleared the preliminary test of state civil services examination, now plans to prepare for the mains, likely to be held in March-April next year. “After writing the main examination I would move to Delhi as I want to prepare for the civil services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission,” he said.

And his better half is confident her husband would be successful in clearing the UPSC test as well.

“God has been kind to our family and I firmly believe that with his sincere efforts my husband would come out with flying colours in the UPSC test as well,” she said and added that she was willing to allow her husband to pay full attention to his studies even though if it would amount to a temporary dissociation from the family.
