Patna: The International Federation of Yadav Chamber of Commerce (IFYCC), the caste-based trade and industry body headquartered in New Delhi held its first business summit "Start-up Bihar" here in the state capital on Sunday and asserted the need for economic empowerment of the castemen.

Various political leaders, including Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Jaiprakash Narayan Yadav and former state minister Chandrika Rai, as well as various entrepreneurs, were present on the occasion.

The trade body, which was established in October 2017, also appealed to Yadav entrepreneurs to approach it with start-up ideas to receive mentoring, advocacy, services related to registration of business, legal help, business counselling, financial and technical services, business intelligence, training, exhibitions and several other facilities related to the market.

IFYCC director-general Rajesh Yadav said: "We are politically empowered in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and several other states, but financially we lag behind. Our society will improve only when we progress economically."

Rajesh said the Yadavs have land, which will be the most precious thing in future, and will give an edge to the caste in business or industry. He added that given the vast numerical strength and their pan-India presence, Yadavs, if united, could be a force to reckon with in market and industry.

IFYCC is a brainchild of New Delhi-based Sudesh Yadav, who is the president of the organisation. He said: "Our community lacks business and entrepreneurship. The money-making ventures have very few members from our caste. We need to change the situation and our organisation will work for it."

RJD leader Chandrika Rai said there was nothing wrong in having a caste-based trade and industry body. "It will be dedicated to our society (Yadavs) and will encourage the poor to rise and become economically strong. I don't think anybody will have any problem with this," Chandrika added.

RJD MP Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav extended good wishes to the organisation for working inside and outside the country and added that the people connected to IFYCC will work for the uplift of the people.
