Patna, March 13: The state cabinet today sanctioned Rs 65 crore for Police Housing Board that will be used for construction of dwelling units for police personnel.

The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting, which was chaired by chief minister Nitish Kumar at the old secretariat.

Sources confirmed that one more proposal was sanctioned for the police administration but officials did not reveal the project.

The sources added that the cabinet also granted Rs 30 crore for land acquisition to set up policelines in Madhepura district.

The proposal for appointment of a consultant for setting up four-storeyed building for policemen on Bailey Road in the state capital also got the “in principle” approval of the cabinet.

The building will have auditorium and other state-of-the-art equipment for the service of the police personnel, sources said.

In another decision, the cabinet approved the proposal of taking the report of circle officer (CO) as the final report regarding giving compensation to farmers in cases of crop damage by wild animals, sources said.

Earlier, district forest officers and circle officers jointly prepared the report. The decision was taken to reduce the timing of providing compensation to farmers, sources said.

The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 13 crore each for the construction of six residential schools for students belonging to Tharu community in West Champaran.

The state government also released Rs 1.5 crore as its share for Valmiki Tiger Reserve. Total 10 proposals got the cabinet nod in today’s meeting.
