Police firing death
• PATNA : A joint report of the Tirhut commissioner and deputy inspector-general of police (DIG) Darbhanga range has confirmed that Jitendra Kumar Malakar was killed in police firing at Tajpur in Samastipur on October 20 this year. The report submitted by commissioner H R Srinivas and DIG Vinod Kumar also recommended stern disciplinary action against the cops posted at Tajpur police station for inept handing of the situation, leading to police firing.
Loot foil
• HAJIPUR: Police foiled a loot attempt with the arrest of seven members of an inter-district gang on Monday night. The cops seized four country-made pistols, 11 live cartridges, nine mobile phones and a motorbike from the criminals. Vaishali superintendent of police Rakesh Kumar said the gang had assembled in Hajipur to commit a dacoity. One of them was involved in loot of cash from a petrol pump in Gaurichak .
Four die in mishap
• AURANGABAD : Four persons died and another suffered serious injuries when a speeding truck hit the vehicle they were travelling in near Khandwa in on Tuesday. The victims were returning to their villages after attending a rally in Aurangabad. The deceased were identified as Sitaram Singh, Kanchan Singh, Chandan Kumar and Sanjeet Singh, all residents of Paharia village in the district.
