Protest against arrests

Patna: A group of Phulwarisharif residents on Saturday staged a protest against the detention of six suspects in a gang rape case and paralysed traffic for over three hours.

The protestors alleged that those taken into custody in connection to the case, in which a middle-aged woman lodged an FIR alleging that she was gang raped on Thursday night, were innocent.

Fire scare

Patna: A major fire broke out in a house-cum-godown located on Daldali Road on Saturday (in picture by Nagendra Kumar Singh). Two fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. An electric short circuit is believed to have caused the fire.

Nabbed

Patna: Renu Yadav, state vice-president of the RJD's panchayat cell, was arrested from Purnea, with 16 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor while travelling by car, on Friday.

Suicide

Patna: Deepak Kumar (20) allegedly committed suicide by consuming sleeping pills on Saturday. He had rented the Kankerbagh residence of an IAS officer posted in Delhi. The reason is yet to be ascertained.
