Graft lens on official
Patna, May 1: Vigilance investigation bureau sleuths on Sunday conducted simultaneous raids on the office and residential premises of district manager of the state food corporation Ram Kewal Pandey at Motihari, Sasaram (Rohtas) and Patna and seized documents pertaining to amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Pandey is posted at Motihari in East Champaran district.
Ganja seizure
Munger: Police on Sunday seized 80kg ganja from Sarsawati Asthan and Kalali More areas in Asarganj police station in the Munger district, Munger superintendent of police Aashish Bharati said. The police also arrested Vikky Jaisawal and Shobha Devi in this connection.
May Day
Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar greeted people on the occasion of May Day on Sunday. In his message, he said workers have played a great role in scripting industrial development and also productivity, an official note said. RJD chief Lalu Prasad, former chief minister Rabri Devi, deputy chief minister Tejaswi and health minister Tej Pratap too greeted the workers.
Salary jab
Patna: The State Public Undertaking Employees' Union cried hoarse over the alleged apathy of the officials concerned to ensure pending salary payment of the employees even though the state government had released funds for the same in the wake of a high court order.
Cong demand
Patna: The Congress on Sunday demanded setting up of a committee of chief ministers for deciding the prices of petroleum products. Party organisational secretary Sharif Ahmed Rangrez said there should be different rates of petrol and diesel for states in accordance with their economic condition and the committee of the chief ministers should be given the power to keep control of the prices of these items.
