Fire mishap in Saran

Chhapra: Three people, including a woman, were burnt to death and dozens of houses gutted in different parts of Saran district.

At Banwari Basant and Bhagwani Chhapra under Garkha block, two persons died and at least 24 houses were razed in the fire.

Patna: Several JDU leaders and workers turned up at the residence of chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday to congratulate him on his elevation as the JDU national president.

Patna: Students' Oxygen Movement organised a seminar on "Steps to curb corruption in educational system" in the city on Sunday.

Farmer plan

Patna: BJP leader Rajiv Ranjan on Sunday said the Centre has chalked out a plan to double the income of farmers by 2022. Ranjan said the Pradhanmantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana would significantly increase irrigated area in the country, leading to further productivity.

Accident

Lakhimpur Kheri (PTI): Two men from Muzaffarpur district were killed and eight others injured when a speeding truck hit a van near Seharua village in Neemgaon area in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Police said Manoj and Kapil - both 35 year olds - were killed on the spot. The injured were rushed to a hospital where their condition was stated to be stable. The victims were on their way home from Delhi where they worked.

Yogic talk

Patna: A seminar on "Yogic management of stress" was organised pm Sunday to mark the 60th annual day function of Yog Vidya Samvardhak Mandal. Revenue and land reforms minister Madan Mohan Jha inaugurated the seminar.

Talent prize

Patna: Winners of a talent search programme aimed at encouraging the meritorious students were felicitated in Patna on Sunday. Held by NGO Prem Youth Foundation, the first prize went to Alok Raj with Nandita Pathak and Rahul Kumar bagging the second and third positions.
