School timing order
Patna, April 16: All schools (private and public) till Class VIII will start at 7am and will end by 12noon according to an order by district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal.
Some schools were starting classes at 6am causing lot of inconvenience to students as they used to leave their house much earlier. Guardians had been complaining that the students were not having sufficient sleep.
Quarters meet
Darbhanga: Members of the quarters allotment committee of Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital met on Saturday under the leadership of the DMC principal to finalise the allocation for serving nurses based on seniority.
FIR order
Patna: Senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaaj on Saturday directed the Shastrinagar police to lodge an FIR against Ghulam Mustafa Ansari, the station house officer of Jai Nagar in Madhubani and his wife for beating up a minor who used to work as a domestic help.
Mowed down
Patna: A 10-year-old girl was crushed to death by a speeding truck at the Mahatma Gandhi Setu on Saturday in the afternoon when the girl, a resident of Raghopur, was standing near the passenger shed. The driver fled. Police said attempts were being made to arrest the driver.
Fire drill
Patna: A training programme on how to deal with fire-related accidents was held at Punjab National Bank on Saturday under its national fire safety week celebration. The use of fire related equipment and a mock drill was also organised during the programme.
Cuffs on Maoist duo
Gaya, April 16: Police nabbed two suspected women Maoists, Neetu Kumari and Kamla Devi, from Ramdasi village under the jurisdiction of Rajauli police station area in Nawada district.
The duo are accused of blowing up the house of a villager in Mohra under the jurisdiction of Atri police station in Gaya by planting dynamite sticks.
Meatless plea
Patna: The Jain Sangh in the state capital has appealed to people to observe a meatless day on the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir on April 19. Sangh secretary Pradip Jain said a colourful procession would be taken out from Jain Bhavan near Congress Maidan in Kadamkuan to Jain temple at Mithapur in Patna to mark the anniversary.
Sand demand
Patna: Members of Bihar Asangathit Chhetra Mazdoor Union on Saturday demanded that the state government must take steps to end the sand crisis in the state. The deputy convener of the union, Ajay Kumar, claimed that labourers engaged in sand mining and building construction works, were facing unemployment because of the crisis because of the tussle between the mafia and the government.
Joining
Patna: Rahul Kumar Choudhary, an oncosurgeon with the Diplomate of National Board degree in surgical oncology, joined as consultant surgical oncologist at the city's Mahavir Cancer Sansthan. Before joining the sansthan, Choudhary worked in Mysore-based Bharath Cancer Hospital and HCG Institute of Oncology. He is expert in head, neck , abdomen and other surgeries of cancer patients.
Book release
Patna: Sri Mahavir Sthan Nyas Samiti secretary Acharya Kishore Kunal released a book, Aasheervaad, written by orthopaedic surgeon Dr R.R. Prasad at a programme organised at Mahavir Vaatsalya Aspatal on Saturday. Padma Shri recipient Narendra Prasad, Mahavir Arogya Sansthan director S.C. Mishra, Mahavir Paramedical Training and Research Institute and ANM Nurses Training Institute director S.P. Srivastava were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
