Murder case hearing
Darbhanga: Gangster Santosh Jha was on Monday produced in Darbhanga court in the double engineer murder case.
He was brought to the court under tight police security for production in additional chief judicial magistrate Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi's court. The police had not applied for Jha's remand so he was sent back to Bhagalpur Central Jail.
Transplant
Patna: IGIMS has become Bihar's first hospital to get the green light to start renal transplants. "No private hospital offers renal transplant facility," said IGIMS body of governors' member Sunil Kumar Singh.
Cancer Day
Patna: Mahavir Cancer Sansthan hosted a programme on International Childhood Cancer Day on Monday. Acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court Iqbal Ahmad Ansari inaugurated the programme and praised the hospital for providing free treatment to poor cancer patients.

Patna: Bihar Pradesh Nationalist Youth Congress state president Kumar Gyanendra on Monday dissolved party posts with immediate effect. He attributed his action to instructions from Tariq Anwar, the NCP youths' wing national president.
Pay order
Patna: The state government on Monday issued orders giving pay-band promotion to five deputy inspector-general (DIG)-rank officers to inspector-general (IG) and eight superintendent of police (SP)-rank officers to DIG. Prominent among IPS officers promoted to DIG-rank included former Patna senior SP Vikas Vaibhav and Siwan SP Saurabh Kumar.

Patna: Patna Pirates held a news meet on Monday before they take on Bengal Warriors, Bengaluru Bulls, Puneri Paltans and U Mumba in the Patna leg of the Pro-Kabaddi League. It's a top of the table clash on Tuesday as league leaders Patna Pirates take on Bengal Warriors, who are five points behind them.
Arrest
Patna: Dhananjay, alias Guddu Rai, a gangster involved in cases of murder and abduction for ransom, was nabbed in Calcutta by the special task force. Police said Buxar resident Guddu was involved in the kidnapping of DAV Public School student Golu from Patna in September 2005. The kidnapping had snowballed into a political issue.
Clash tension
Darbhanga: Dhakjari village, 60km east of Darbhanga and 200km from Patna, remained tensed on Monday following a clash on Sunday during Saraswati idol immersion. A suo motu case has been started.
Kidney surgery
Patna, Feb. 15: The authorisation committee (constituted under Transplantation of Human Organs Act by the health department) today gave its nod to Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) for starting the kidney transplant.
After receiving the letter from the authority concerned, IGIMS director N.R. Biswas said it was a proud moment for IGIMS.
Law jibe at CM
Patna: Jan Adhikar Party (Loktantrik) state unit president Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha on Monday attacked chief minister Nitish Kumar over alleged deterioration of law and order.
