Special Chhath trains

Patna: East Central Railway on Wednesday announced to run thirteen pairs of puja special trains from November 3 for Chhath devotees.

The Chhath special train will cater to different cities, including Delhi, Indore, Secunderabad, Lucknow, Jabalpur, Bangalore, Mumbai, Howrah and Ambala.

Muzaffarpur: Jhapha villagers blocked Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi National Highway 77 in protest against the death of confectioner Ravi Gupta who was found dead on Wednesday morning.

Cop protest

Muzaffarpur: Women from Sakra Bajid village in the district stormed the Sakra police station on Wednesday morning, accusing sub-inspector Awadhesh Prasad of trying to outrage the modesty of a woman in the village on Tuesday night. The women demanded action against the officer.

Patna: A vigilance awareness workshop was organised at the East Central Railway headquarters in Hajipur on Wednesday, the third day of the vigilance awareness week.

Patna: Former MLA Dilip Kumar Yadav on Wednesday rejoined the RJD after hoping for better chances during the last Assembly elections.

Nitish on Simi probe

Patna (PTI): Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday favoured an independent probe into the Bhopal jailbreak by undertrial Simi activists and their subsequent killing for "clarity" on what had happened.

"Some striking pictures have emerged on the event and hence there is a need for clarity on the event," Nitish said in Patna, expressing confidence in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government to do so.

Condolence

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar mourned the death of chief Qazi of Phulwarisharif-based Imarat-e-Sharia, Maulana Jasimuddin Rehmani on Wednesday.

Slogan case

Gaya: Police on Wednesday registered a case against people who had assaulted three youths for allegedly raising anti-national and pro-Pakistan slogans during a musical programme in Bodhgaya late on Tuesday evening. Police had taken the youths into custody on Wednesday morning from Mocharim village but as none of the villagers came up with any evidence, the police registered the case against the people.

Patna: A team from Princeton University visited AIIMS-Patna on Wednesday as part of its study on the healthcare system in India.

Harass case

Patna: A police team visited AIIMS-Patna on Wednesday to inquire into a case related to alleged harassment of a former senior resident by former director G.K. Singh.

Chhath traffic

Patna: The traffic cell has issued guidelines in the wake of Chhath celebrations. On November 6, heavy vehicles will be not allowed at Kurji Mor to Rajapur Pul, Boring Canal Road, Rajapur Pul to Police Line from 12noon to 9pm.
