EC order to govt

Patna, Oct. 1: The Election Commission has directed the state government not to transfer district magistrates or any other officials responsible for the revision of electoral rolls.

The restriction on transfer will continue till January 10, 2017.

AIIMS talk

Patna: Director-general of health services at the Centre Jagdish Prasad will meet protesting students of AIIMS-Patna next Thursday. Students have decided to continue their protest.

Thieves nabbed

Aurangabad, Oct. 1: Police today arrested five people and recovered Rs 70,000 in cash during a raid at some of their hideouts in Rafiganj police station area.

The gang of armed criminals had looted over Rs 5.34 lakh from Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank on September 28.

App launch

Bettiah: Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh inaugurated the "Kisan App" at a programme organised at the town hall on Saturday. This new app will help farmers in production and marketing of their products.

Patna: Rajo Manjhi, a Mahadalit from Giriyak in Nalanda district, was beaten to death allegedly by Dayanand Singh and his henchmen for refusing to provide fish free of cost to them on Saturday. The police lodged a complaint against the absconding accused based on a statement by Dayanand's relative.

Welfare

Patna: Inspector-general (prisons) Anand Kishor on Saturday reviewed the different welfare schemes launched for inmates in 56 jails in the state. He directed the jail superintendents of Kaimur and Katihar to expedite construction work in the prisoners' wards and ensure proper treatment of ailing prisoners.
