Goods train derail
Gaya: Three coaches of a goods train derailed on the Up line at Rafiganj railway station under the Mughalsarai division on Monday. Apart from delay of a couple of trains, movement was not too affected.
The coahces derailed around 11.15am, in which a portion of the platform at Rafiganj station was also damaged. Gaya Junction station manager D.N. Prasad said the Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express was delayed by about 35 minutes and the Gaya-Dehri passenger for an hour. Within two hours of the derailment, the loop line on the Up line was cleared around 1.25pm.
Funds jab
Patna: Rural works minister Shravan Kumar on Monday attacked the Centre for non-allocation of funds in centrally sponsored schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana. Shravan said the Centre had sanctioned projects worth Rs 20,199 crore but only Rs 9,894 crore had been allotted to the state. He also said that for the financial year 2015-16, Rs 4,200 crore was required but only Rs 2,281 crore was provisioned.

Patna: Bihar State Executive Assistance Service Association on Monday announced the decision to launch an indefinite strike, in support of several demands, including increase in wages.
Inspection
Patna: East Central Railway general manager A.K. Mittal on Monday inspected Darbhanga and Samastipur railway stations amidst the ongoing consumer connect programme. Mittal also met the passengers and inquired about their daily travel problems.
Loot
Patna: Two armed criminals looted Rs 7.91 lakh from two private firm employees around 12.30pm on Monday. The employees were intercepted in the Buddha Colony police station area. The employees were on their way to deposit the money. The bag of money was snatched at gunpoint.
Finance firm
Patna: Rohtas police have claimed to crack the case of Rs 48 lakh loot from a private finance company following the arrest of four criminals late on Sunday. Superintendent of police Shivdeep Lande said on Monday four suspects, including the kingpin of the inter-district gang, were arrested during a special vehicle-checking drive on Sunday night.
Ban off
Rajgir: Normalcy returned to Rajgir on Monday after the Nalanda district administration announced to lift its ban on the circus and cultural show during Malmas Mela. Section 144 of CrPC was clamped in the town earlier following violent clashes between security personnel and residents.
Court relief for principals
Patna, June 8: The high court single bench of Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh today ordered that no coercive steps should be taken against any of the 12 principals of Magadh University colleges against whom a vigilance inquiry is pending. The order was passed on a petition filed by nine of the principals.
Their appointments were challenged in the court by one Bimal Prasad Singh, who alleged irregularities in their appointment.
Bombs
Gaya: Criminals hurled bombs near a police patrol vehicle and fired in the air around 3am on Monday. The criminals had snatched Rs 5,000 from one Chhote Singh, who put up a resistance spotting a Kotwali police patrol vehicle but the men exploded the bombs and escaped. A flag march, led by senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaaj, was taken out on Monday evening to instil a sense of security among the residents.

Motihari: All police stations in East Champaran district, on the borders of Muzaffarpur and Sheohar, have been put on high alert in the wake of recent Maoist attacks.

Patna: The high court single bench of Justice V.N. Sinha on Monday directed Darbhanga district magistrate to inquire into allegations that land had been acquired from one Raj Kumar Jha and others for road construction without giving fair compensation.
Loot
Ara: Criminals looted Rs 6.42 lakh from a petrol pump employee, Dipak Mishra, in Bhojpur district on Monday. The victim was near Badkapul on the Ara-Buxar road when the criminals overtook him and snatched his bag of money. Mishra was on way to deposit the money in Allahabad Bank.

Attack
Gopalganj: Motorcycle-borne criminals threw bombs at a sweet shop late on Sunday evening, injuring the shop owner and a girl. One of the criminals was caught by the residents and beaten up.
Life term
Patna: Additional district and sessions judge Kaushal Kishore Singh on Monday sentenced Pawan Singh, a resident of Bauara village, to life imprisonment for the murder of one Kamta Singh in August 2005.
Sentence
Patna: Additional district and sessions judge Ashok Kumar Singh on Monday sentenced Suddu Kumar, a resident of Akopur, and Raju Rai, a resident of Sotachak, to life imprisonment for the murder of Vijay Yadav in August 2012.
