Fresh date in museum case

Patna: The hearing into the case of construction of Bihar Museum in Patna High Court on Tuesday was adjourned and it would now be taken up on April 28. The case was adjourned as both the state government counsel and the petitioner’s counsel sought more time from the court to put forth their arguments. 
One Ashok Kumar had filed the petition, questioning the utility of constructing the Rs 530-crore museum when there are shortages of basic amenities to the people of the state. The case is being heard by the court of Chief Justice L. Narasimha Reddy. 

Officer in net for bribery

Muzaffarpur: Block education officer of Sahebganj block of the district Gayatri Sinha was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 at her house at Deoriya on Tuesday. “A vigilance team had laid a trap and nabbed Sinha and her son Raja with currency notes offered as bribe. The duo were produced before the vigilance court in the afternoon and remanded in judicial custody,” said deputy superintendent of police (vigilance) Maharaja Kanishka.

Hearing 

Patna: The hearing on anticipatory bail petition of former DAV principal Ramanuj Prasad could not be held on Tuesday. It was deferred to April 16. Prasad is an accused in connection with a case of running an examination racket. 

Sentence

Patna: Additional district and sessions judge Ravi Shankar Sinha on Tuesday sentenced Singhasan Paswan and Anil Ram, residents of Janipur, to life imprisonment in connection of murder on July 10, 1998.

Suspension

Chhapra: Superintendent of police Satya Vir Singh suspended Dhananjay Gupta, the bodyguard of JP University vice-chancellor on charges of beating a Dalit youth and misbehaving with a senior police officer. Sources said the suspended bodyguard had been directed to report to the police lines with immediate effect. 

Bail plea

Chhapra: District and sessions judge Navneet Pandey on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail petition of Dina Nath Singh, brother of RJD MLA Kedar Singh in connection with the murder of Munna Singh, personal bodyguard of JDU leader Upendra Singh. 

Liquor ban

Patna: RJD MP from Madhepura Pappu Yadav on Tuesday demanded ban on the sale of liquor across the state and said more the revenue, people’s health is being affected and crime against women rising. 

Workshop

Patna: The physics department of College of Commerce on Tuesday organised a workshop on material characterisation and date interpretation. Dr Ramajanay Choudhary of Consortium for Scientific Research, Indore, was the resource person. 

Homage

Gaya: Centre for sociological studies, Central University of South Bihar, organised a talk-cum-interactive session on the 107th birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram on its campus on Tuesday. Speakers shared his contributions as a freedom fighter in the Indian national movement. 

Nabard biz

Patna: The fund flow from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) to Bihar saw a 88 per cent rise in 2014-15 in comparison to the fund flow in 2013-14. 

Power firm funds

Patna, April 7: The cabinet today sanctioned additional grant of Rs 266 crore to the Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited against purchase of electrify from NTPC and other producers for financial year 2014-15.
The cabinet also gave nod to appointment of retired police officer Chandra Shekhar Prasad Singh as a member of the recruitment board for constables. The home department’s proposal to create 19 posts for opening a police outpost at Marahurha in Saran district was also approved.
A proposal to bring amendments for revision of wages for employees of the human rights commission was also passed. 

Amarjeet shift

Delhi (PTI): Amarjeet Sinha, a 1983 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, was appointed additional secretary in the rural development department. Sinha, presently an additional secretary in the higher education department, has been appointed for the balance period of his central deputation tenure up to September 14, 2018. 

Electricity

Patna: There would be a power cut for three hours from 12noon on Wednesday in Rajiv Nagar, Indrapuri and Mahesh Nagar. There would a power cut of three hours from 11am in Kharanja Road, RK Puram and Lekha Nagar.      

NCP meet

Patna: NCP would organise its two-day national convention on May 10 and 11 this year in Patna. Katihar MP and party national general secretary Tariq Anwar said.  

Anti-farmer jab

Patna: Islampur MLA Rajiv Ranjan attacked the Nitish Kumar government alleging it of being anti-farmer.  

Fiery protest

Patna: The youth wing of the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party burnt the effigy of Lalu Prasad against the move of washing the statue of Ram Manohar Lohia.
