Judicial custody for HoD

Patna: A single bench of the high court on Wednesday sentenced K.B. Sharma, former head of department (HoD), zoology, and dean, students' welfare, Magadh University, to a week of judicial custody in a case related to seniority.

The petitioner, Chandradeo Prasad Sinha, had alleged Sharma was promoted to the post of HoD surpassing him despite Sharma being junior to him.

Threat barb

Patna: Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav on Wednesday accused the JDU-RJD combine of threatening voters.

Poll violence

Patna: The BJP-led NDA would approach the state election commission over violence in Rajauli in Nawada district during the first phase of polling. BJP leaders, including Union minister Giriraj Singh, on Wednesday claimed a woman and her son were beaten up by RJD supporters on October 12.

Kids drown

Buxar (PTI): Four boys drowned in a pond in Buxar district on Wednesday. The mishap occurred in a temple complex when the boys aged between 10 and 12 years were taking a bath.

Paswan jab

Chhapra: Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Wednesday took a dig at the RJD chief, claiming Lalu Prasad only spoke about the financially underprivileged people only during elections.

Murder whiff

Patna: A senior auditor with the accountant-general's office, Hirdesh Kumar, died on Wednesday after falling off the second floor of his office. Police said preliminary investigations have revealed the victim might have been pushed to his death.

Rescue

Patna: Police on Wednesday recovered one Harshvardhan Narayan, who was reported abducted in the early hours by his wife. Narayan, a resident of Ramkrishna Nagar police station area, was recovered from the Gopalpur locality of Patna.

Webcast

Gaya: Live webcasting of 155 out of 2,937 polling booths in Gaya district will be conducted on Friday.
