Bodhgaya unrolls calendar

Gaya, July 26: Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) has released the schedule of annual events for world peace prayer performances on the world heritage Mahabodhi Mahavihara campus.

The schedule of the annual events will start with kathina civara dana ceremony on October 24 to be organised by the Mahabodhi Mahavihara and conclude with the eight-day Kagyupa international monlam prayer from March 1 to 8 to be organised by Kagyupa International Monlam Trust, Bodhgaya.

Most important among the forthcoming schedule of annual events will be the Kalchakra initiation (monlam). Spiritual leader of the Tibetan Buddhists, the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, would lead the 11-day Kalchakra Puja in Bodhgaya from December 31, 2011 to January 10, 2012.

The Kalchakra Puja will be organised in Bodhgaya after nine years. There are also plans to organise Buddha Mahotsava for 10 days during the upcoming tourist season. A proposal for the 10-day mahotsava was presented at a meeting held on July 9.

At the meeting, it was decided to send the proposal for organising the 10-day Buddha Mahotsava in this tourist to the tourism department principal secretary. BTMC secretary Nangzey Dorjee has been asked to fix the date for organising the Buddha Mahotsava.

The annual events for world peace puja performances at the Mahabodhi Mahavihara scheduled from October this year to March 2012 has also been released.
