Patna: The BJP's Patna Sahib MP Shatrughan Sinha was nowhere to be seen on a day the BJP hosted a function to which all NDA constituents were invited.

"I didn't get any invitation to the event. I was not even expecting it and it hardly makes any difference for me," Shotgun, as Shatrughan is popularly called, told The Telegraph over phone from New Delhi. He also recalled how the BJP had ignored him completely during the 2015 Assembly elections and had ended up faring poorly.

Sinha took a dig at this party for inviting others but leaving out its own members, who are not only senior but have been loyal to the party through thick and thin. " Apno pe sitam, gairon pe karam," he said quoting a line from Hindi film Aankhen. It roughly translates to means torturing those who are one's own and blessing those who are not one's own.

No one from the state BJP spoke anything on record when asked the reason for ignore its own MP at a function which aims to showcase NDA unity. One of the BJP senior leaders just quipped: "We have stopped taking notice of Shatrughan Sinha."

Interestingly, Bihari Babu, as Shatrughan is also called, is expected to take part in an iftar party being organised by the RJD on June 13.

Asked about his likely attendance at the RJD's iftar party, Shatrughan said: "I have got the invitation and will try to attend it."

Going beyond the BJP's moves in Bihar, Shatrughan also spoke about the latest move of his party leaders to meet people under the "Sampark for Samarthan" programme.

He suggested that instead of focusing on others, the party should first look inwards and take advice from senior party leaders like L.K. Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Arun Shourie among others.

He also came up with two tweets in this regard. The first one read: "The stark reality is written all over the wall & is for anyone to see. Chotu Motu trying to assuage the hurt feelings of our esteemed colleagues was a reassuring image. Need of the hour is to look within the Party and to take the blessings of elders and gyaanis...."

The Patna Sahib MP then went on to ridicule the party's move and, quoting RJD national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha, he said: "Manoj Jha has rightly said that the move should be called Sampark for Samarpan".
