Patna: Almost eight months ahead of the general elections scheduled to be held in March-April next year, the Bihar unit of the Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP, is going to organise a conference of its booth-level committee members across the state to put them into election mode.
The conferences would be organised across the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies beginning from Jhanjharpur in Madhubani on August 16, which would be inaugurated by BJP state president Nityanand Rai. The concluding conference would be held on October 5.
The BJYM state unit started forming booth-level committees, which have been named Kamal Club in November last year and so far the committees have been constituted in over 40,000 booths out of the 62,780 polling booths in the state. The morcha is aiming to have the clubs in all the booths by the time the conferences would be held in different constituencies.
"We would use the conferences to guide our booth-level functionaries about the works they are supposed to do for mobilising the support of young voters for the NDA," BJYM state president Nitin Navin said, adding that the functionaries would focus on young voters.
The move assumes significance as out of the 6.84 crore voters in Bihar, more than 1.8 crore fall in the age group of 18 to 29 years. These voters could play a major role as far as NDA fortune in 2019 general elections is concerned.
Followed by the conferences, the booth-level functionaries would also be tasked with two other major works.
While one task would be to add 10 new youths at each of the booths, the second task pertains to reaching out to the beneficiaries of different central schemes such as Ujjwala and Saubhagya schemes.
"Our focus would be to add youths in the age group of 18 to 25 years at every booth and the functionaries would be asked to ensure that youths from all sections of society are added under this drive," said Nitin, adding that the aim was to add at least six lakh youths with the party through this drive.
As far reaching out to the beneficiaries of central scheme is concerned, it is part of the party's strategy to reach out to 22 crore such beneficiaries across the nation.
Recently, BJP Mahila Morcha national president Vijaya Rahatkar had an interactive programme with beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme in Chhapra.
