Patna, May 4: The Bihar BJP has taken up with gusto "Panchayat to Parliament" - national president Amit Shah's clarion call to cadres during the BJP national executive meet held last month in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The state unit of the party will organise regional meets of its workers to fine-tune its agenda, set up during the two-day state executive meet in Kishanganj on May 2 and 3, on which the party would work in different parts of the state.
A senior functionary of the party told The Telegraph on Thursday that these meets would be organised at 11 places in the state on May 15 and 16 in which party workers and office-bearers of the region would be invited for suggesting issues, which were relevant to the area and which need to be raised while reaching out to people to expand the base of the party.
"State office-bearers and senior leaders would be present in the regional meetings and based on their inputs, the points would be included in addition to the broader agenda of the party, which was finalised during the state meet," said a senior BJP leader.
Citing an example, he said during the Kishanganj regional meet, in which the party office-bearers and workers from Kishanganj, Purnea and Katihar would participate, the issue of triple talaq and how to reach out to the backwards among Muslims would be discussed.
"A strategy would be decided accordingly. The Kishanganj area has maximum concentration of Muslims and hence it is but natural for us to focus on issues like triple talaq and bring backward Muslims into the BJP fold," added the leader.
Similar meetings would be organised in Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur, Bettiah, Sasaram, Aurangabad, Munger, Saharsa and a few other places. BJP state president Nityanand Rai is scheduled to take part in the regional meet to be held at Gopalganj.
Throwing light on the party's plans, a BJP insider revealed that it had also planned to organise the meeting of its district and Mandal units in May during which the message from the state working committee meet would be percolated up to the grassroots organisational units with an aim to address confusions which might be there in the minds of the workers.
"These steps would help the party in a big way when our national president Amit Shah would visit the state in June to take stock of the works being done on the ground," the BJP insider added.
He also revealed that the party had also finalised dates for the next meeting of the state working committee which would be held in Bodhgaya in July.
"This meeting would be held on July 21 and 22 and during this, the party leadership would take stock of the works done after the Kishanganj meet and also decide the future course of action," said the BJP insider.
